Whitney Crawford, B.S.

Practicum/Internship Student

What do I do at CAPS?

I am a third-year PsyD student currently placed with the Mental Performance team at the Liberty Athletics Center for my practicum experience. I spent my first year of practicum at the main CAPS office, but I have been at the LAC since the start of 2023. There I see student-athletes for individual counseling. I also administer various psychological assessments when needed, and I work as a GA at their Resilience Lab, helping to guide athletes through the cognitive and sports performance program (Inner Armor) they have stationed there. I was born and raised in Houston, Texas, and I graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology and film studies from Trinity University in 2021.

What is it like to work with me?

I enjoy connecting with students one-on-one, and my hope is that they find working with me a safe, healing, and collaborative experience. As a relatively recent undergraduate myself, I believe I am uniquely able to understand many of the difficulties students face adjusting to, or coping with, the demands of college life. I strive to create a therapeutic environment in which students might feel comfortable beginning to confront whatever struggles they are facing.

What do I do outside of CAPS?

Outside of CAPS (and when I am not otherwise occupied with schoolwork), I enjoy reading, binge-watching movies and TV series, and spending time with my family, my friends, and my pitbull-dachshund-chihuahua mix Ivy.
