Sophia Varrati

Practicum/Internship Student

What do I do at CAPS?

I'm a practicum student here at CAPS working towards my M.A. In Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University with my background consisting of a B.S. in Psychology: Counseling which I also completed with Liberty. I work with a broad range of clients, providing support and safety to help clients grow into the best versions of themselves.

What is it like to work with me?

My aim is to walk alongside my clients, instilling hope and optimism along the way to help them achieve their goals. While I'm still developing my theoretical orientation, right now I primarily work from a person-centered approach, meaning I emphasize the counseling relationship itself while deeply valuing empathy and authenticity. I also approach my clients from a holistic perspective and am prone to incorporating overall health and wellness into sessions.

What do I do outside of CAPS?

I am heavily involved in sports and fitness as I am a certified group fitness instructor at the YMCA and am the women's team captain for the Liberty Taekwondo team. I love finding new ways to stay active such as running, weightlifting, pennyboarding, and sparring. If I'm not exercising you will most likely find me taking/editing pictures, thrifting, hiking, or cooking!
