Assistant Director for Training

What do I do at CAPS?

I am blessed to get to work with individual clients and groups at CAPS.  In addition to seeing clients, as the Assistant Director for Training, I help coordinate programming for practicum and internship students working at CAPS and oversee our team of interns each semester.  I love getting to collaborate with other departments to not only train future counselors but also to provide the best care possible for our students/clients.

What is it like to work with me?

I love meeting and hearing the stories and experiences of others.  If you are working with me at CAPS, my hope is that you will find me to be, first of all, proud of you for the steps you took to get to CAPS (those first steps are often the most difficult), and then to gently receive what you are willing to share. While you take the lead, we will work together to craft a vision for what you would like to be different from what you’re experiencing now. I may offer a fresh perspective, thought-provoking questions or new opportunities that you maybe have not yet considered. I also can be downright goofy when it comes to celebrating each step of progress and growth you make toward your goals. (I love to celebrate!) I’d truly love to meet you!

What do I do outside of CAPS?

In an effort to explore and expand new opportunities, I have recently tried primitive camping (in a tent without running water or electricity) and found that I can actually be less “high maintenance” than I am often accused of by my family.  I will even admit that I have enjoyed it.  When I’m not at CAPS or trying to be a camper, I also enjoy reading, riding my bicycle, traveling, growing in my understanding of the Lord and spending time with my family.
