Practicum/Internship Student

What do I do at CAPS?

Hi! My name is Ravyn Kelly, and I am a counseling intern here at CAPS. I hold a bachelor's in psychology from Liberty University, and I am currently in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate program. I'm from The Bahamas, and my background has given me a deep appreciation for culture, diversity, and the unique experiences that shape each individual. At CAPS, I work with college students facing a wide range of concerns, but I am especially passionate about supporting those navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and the unique challenges international students may experience with culture shock and the acculturation process.

What is it like to work with me?

Working with me means stepping into a space of empathy, understanding, and encouragement. I don’t operate from one single counseling theory, but I primarily hold a person-centered approach—which means I believe you are the expert of your own story.  I see counseling as a collaborative process where we work together to build awareness, set realistic goals, and develop a plan that incorporates practical strategies for growth.  I remind my clients that healing isn’t always linear, but with patience, self-compassion, and the consistent practice of new insights and coping skills, meaningful and lasting change is possible. My hope is to walk alongside you in that process, supporting you as you discover your own resilience and capacity for growth.

What do I do outside of CAPS?

When I’m not at CAPS, work, or in class, I love staying connected to my roots and passions. I currently serve on the executive board of the Caribbean Student Association, where I help build community and celebrate our culture. I also work as an event coordinator, which lets me create fun and meaningful experiences for others. Outside of my professional pursuits. I love hanging out with friends and family, traveling, and exploring new cultures. Some of my favorite activities include going home to The Bahamas, going to the beach, playing indoor and outdoor games,  hosting friends, trying out new recipes, and hunting for unique finds while thrifting or shopping.
