What do I do at CAPS?

Hi! My name is Phoebe Townsend, and I am a counseling intern here at CAPS. I have a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Liberty University, and am currently in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate program.  Currently, I work within various concerns. I am very interested in trauma care, racial trauma, body image, anxiety, and depression.

What is it like to work with me?

I want everyone who works with me to feel safe, seen, and supported. I know that the counseling process is a major step for anyone, and I want to promote a space where healing is the main goal. My hope is to always cultivate an environment where there is empathy and an exploration of identity, feelings, thoughts, and emotions. My counseling style is very person-centered, identifying goals, collaborating on care, and creating a plan catered to each individual client.

What do I do outside of CAPS?

When I am not at CAPS, in classes, or studying, I love anything involving nature. I love to go on hikes, find new coffee shops, hiking, and go on weekend trips to a cabin or camping. Or I am doing something creative and am often painting or trying new recipes. Above all, I love having all my friends over, playing games, and cooking them a good meal!
