What do I do at CAPS?

Hi! My name is Maggie Guice, and I am a counseling intern here at CAPS. I have a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Liberty University, and am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I work with a variety of concerns, and am especially interested in exploring identity, sexuality and gender, neurodivergence, body image, relational trauma, anxiety, and depression.

What is it like to work with me?

My desire is to create a safe, welcoming, and cozy environment where students feel heard, seen, accepted, and celebrated. I am passionate about the power and healing of sitting with students in their stories and suffering, curating a space to explore all aspects of their identity, challenges, and strengths freely, without judgment. I think that humans are gifted with the ability to think, feel, and find solutions that suit them well. I consider it an honor to walk alongside students as they work toward their goals and discover more about themselves.

What do I do outside of CAPS?

When I am not at CAPS or busy as a student, I love spending time with my friends, family, and cat, Eloise. To relax, I love anything creative! I love to paint, go thrifting, discover new music and movies, and decorate cakes! Remaining physically active and spending time outside is incredibly restorative to me, and I enjoy lifting weights and finding all of the best hidden trails in Lynchburg.
