What do I do at CAPS?

I am a Clinical Mental Health Counseling intern at CAPS, where I have the privilege of walking alongside students as they navigate the challenges that come with college and life. I provide individual counseling and support students working through concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, relationships, life transitions, identity, or personal concerns. My goal is to provide a space where students can slow down, feel heard, and begin making sense of what they are experiencing. As an intern, I provide counseling under clinical supervision while completing the final stage of my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

What is it like to work with me?

My approach to counseling is collaborative, genuine, and person-centered. I believe you are the expert on your own experiences, and my role is not to tell you how to live your life but to help you better understand yourself, recognize patterns, identify strengths, and explore meaningful ways forward. I strive to create a counseling environment that feels comfortable, conversational, and free from judgment. I enjoy using humor when appropriate and believe counseling can include both difficult conversations and moments of genuine connection. I also recognize that faith can be an important part of a student's life and am happy to incorporate a student's Christian faith or spiritual beliefs into counseling when that is something they desire.

What do I do outside of CAPS?

Outside of CAPS, I am completing my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and continuing to grow personally and professionally as a counselor. When I am not working or studying, I enjoy going on hikes or walks in nature, I love playing games, including board and card games, and I love coffee. I value having time to recharge, spend time with people who are important to me, and enjoy life outside of the counseling room, especially a coffee shop.
