Austin Bailey

Austin Bailey, B.S.

Practicum/Internship Student

What do I do at CAPS?

Hey y’all, my name is Austin, and I am an intern in counseling in the Clinical Mental Health Program. I attended Liberty for my Undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies where I focused on Psychology, Social Work, and Sociology. At CAPS, I will be working with some of our “Primary Path” clients as well as conducting intakes. With all this, I will also be working under my direct supervisor, Emily Budowanec.

What is it like to work with me?

One thing about me that I have learned over the years is that appreciate a story, specifically hearing you as the client’s story. Seeing how the different pieces of your specific puzzle come together to make you YOU! I love making people smile, so if there’s a way that I can work some quirky comedy into our sessions I surely will. I have 6 years of experience working with college age students in different capacities, both on the residence halls and off, this age group has become my passion. Letting you as the client express your thoughts or feelings in a safe space is one of my goals and learning ways to move forward from stressors and how to cope with different things in a healthy way. Overall, I am excited to get to know you if we have the opportunity to work together.

What do I do outside of CAPS?

When I’m not in the office, you will catch me all around town either on or off campus. I also love spending time with my friends and family and living life to the fullest.

*Mrs. Bekah Jarman is the primary supervisor for this practicum/internship student.
