Counselor

What do I do at Counseling & Psychological Services?

As a counselor, my primary responsibility is to provide individual, couples and group counseling to students. I also serve as the liaison to the International Student Center to help international students and missionary kids develop a support network on campus. I work as the facilitator for the “Let’s Talk” campus program. I am trained in grief counseling, trauma therapy, and the Prepare and Enrich pre-marital counseling model.

What is it like to work with me?

I enjoy making an interpersonal connection with students who are having difficulty adjusting to college.  As a former international student who grew up overseas as a missionary kid, I understand the complex challenges students face once they leave home and try to adjust to a new, unfamiliar culture.  I’ve found this to be true for new freshman who’ve left their hometown in another state to come to LU, newly engaged or married couples experiencing relational stress, and students arriving from another country.  I strive to provide a warm, welcoming environment. I invite students to explore their unique cultural history, share their cultural frustrations without judgment, and collaborate with them to identify ways of making a healthy social transition to campus life.

What do I do outside of Counseling & Psychological Services?

I like to spend time with my wife and family. I especially enjoy being involved with Lynchburg’s growing soccer community as a coach and player. I also enjoy riding my vintage Vespa around town on the weekends.  It brings me back to my childhood growing up in Rome, Italy. I am actively involved with my church and enjoy participating in a variety of ministries within the church body.
