Ken Sharpe, M.Div
Practicum/Internship Student
What do I do at CAPS?
I am a counseling intern, enrolled at Liberty University’s Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My goal is to become a Licensed Professional Counselor.
What is it like to work with me?
I use a person-centered approach in counseling, with cognitive behavioral therapy as my foundational modality for practice. I like to think of myself as on a co-journey with the client moving towards a path of spiritual, mental, and emotional well-being. I also bring to the therapeutic relationship my experience as an army chaplain, which makes me uniquely qualified to integrate theology and psychology into my theoretical framework.
What do I do outside of CAPS?
I have been married to my amazing wife, Susan, for 30 years. We have been blessed with two beautiful daughters. Susan and I love to travel and explore our nation’s incredible parks. Additionally, I am a retired Army chaplain with 20 years of service of which 10 years of my Army career was spent in a clinical setting.
