Alexander Rolle, B.S.

Practicum/Internship Student

What do I do at CAPS?

I am a Counseling Intern with the Mental Performance team at the Liberty Athletics Center, where I assist in the mental health services provided to Liberty’s athletes. At the LAC I do individual counseling, help create mental health programming for student-athletes, and assist in the Resilience Lab where we walk students through the Inner Armor Program. I was born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas until I moved to the U.S. for college. I graduated with a Bachelor's in Psychology from the University of Tampa in Florida, and I’ve been here at Liberty since 2021 working on completing my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling to pursue licensure as an LPC.

What is it like to work with me?

I embrace a person-centered approach when working with individuals, and one of my main interests as a counselor is helping people build better self-awareness and awareness about their experiences in the world to make choices that are aligned with their personal goals. Coming from another culture, I am always interested in hearing about how different experiences have shaped people into who they are today, and I use a multicultural lens to seek to understand the unique stories of each person I’m working with. I also find opportunities to integrate creativity into whatever work I’m doing to process experiences and emotions in new and engaging ways. I think it’s important to not only focus on the difficulties in life but also on what is going well and highlight the strengths that have brought you up to this point. I hope to be able to provide a safe space to get into the hard parts of each person’s story while also being able to recognize and affirm the beauty of what makes each person’s story special. As we build on each session, I hope to be able to equip you with the tools you need to feel empowered.

What do I do outside of CAPS?

Outside of CAPS, you will likely find me spending quality time with friends or playing video games (whenever I can find the time). I consider myself an artist, so I enjoy working on different pieces as I feel inspired, usually multiple mediums on canvas. I also enjoy taking walks in nature to get inspiration for my art. I love learning new things so you will also often find me listening to podcasts and reading fiction and non-fiction based on how I’m feeling.
